All my love travels with you. May you be met by the Weaver.
Shattered Realms is a LitRPG cozy fantasy about a stock trader, her armored cat, and a world that wasn't expecting either of them.
Anna Li was a stock trader with a quiet life, a cinnamon chai habit, and a very spoiled house cat named Mimi. Then she woke up barefoot in another world, still wearing her "I Do What I Want" cat pajamas, with a floating menu in her face asking if she'd like to activate Squire Mode.
Her cat came too. Mimi got full plate armor, a sword, and a class called Great Beast Hero. Anna got no shoes.
Shattered Realms is the story of what happens next. It's got LitRPG mechanics, cozy fantasy warmth, found family bonds, and a cat who fights like a tiny, furry wrecking ball. If you've ever wished your pet could fight your battles for you, this one's yours.
Mimi Li started as a house cat who liked Fancy Feast (chicken and cheddar, specifically) and judging her owner from across the room. Now she's a Great Beast Hero in the Celestial Dawnbreaker Armor Set, and she hasn't gotten any less judgmental.
Her favorite skill? Chatter Box. She unleashes a wave of vocalized cat chatter so intense it drives enemies into a frenzy. Think less "war cry" and more "that noise your cat makes when they see a bird, weaponized."
Fierce, overly confident, and fiercely loyal. Readers call her the best companion character in LitRPG. We're not going to argue.
Meet the Full Cast"Mimi is the best animal companion I've ever read in a book. Yeah, she is that good! The author definitely owns a cat because the attitude is too accurate."
"Anna and Mimi together are honestly my new comfort duo. Their banter is so funny but also so sweet sometimes."
"The prose is amazing. The style of writing is probably in the top 10% of this site."
"I went into this expecting a fun LitRPG and ended up way more invested than I thought I would be. Mimi completely steals the show."
"I didn't think I would get into it, just really liked the cover and thought give it a go, and on chapter 3 I'm hooked."
"Just wanted to say that I love this book. Going to go find it and buy it. Great characters, fun story, action is so clear it's like I am there."
Available now on Amazon Kindle. Also free to read on Royal Road.
One book out. One on the way. A cat in armor throughout.
The twin suns sank toward the horizon. In the distance, the Vessels swayed in the evening breeze, patient as prayer, silent as judgment.
A world of twin suns, forgotten ruins, ancient mysteries, and one very brave (occasionally opinionated) cat in armor.
Join Mimi, the armored house cat with heroic ambitions, and Anna, her skeptical, stock-trading human, as they navigate a fantasy world bursting with monsters, quests, and magical loot.
Together, they'll battle through chaos, uncover long-buried mysteries, and discover powers neither of them knew they had. All while trying to find a way back home (preferably without getting eaten).
Shattered Realms is an ongoing series. Book One is a complete story, but the larger world is just getting started. Start with Book One. You'll know pretty quickly if a cat in plate armor is your kind of thing.
The threads of fate were cut, and the path ahead is uncertain. Seek the one whose strength, spirit, or sheer stubbornness calls to your own.
A stock trader. An armored cat. A world full of things that want to eat them.
Before all this, Mimi was a house cat. A small, grey, very particular house cat who spent her days napping in sunbeams and judging Anna from across the apartment. She had opinions about everything and expressed them loudly.
Now she's in another world, wearing armor that shouldn't fit a cat, carrying a sword she has no business wielding, and classified as a Great Beast Hero. Somehow, none of this has changed her personality. She's still judgmental. Still loud. Still firmly believes she's in charge.
Her signature skill, Chatter Box, lets her unleash a wave of cat chatter so aggressive that enemies lose all strategy and just charge at her. It's exactly as ridiculous as it sounds, and exactly as effective.
Readers didn't expect to fall in love with a fictional cat this hard. They did anyway.
Anna comes from the world of spreadsheets and risk assessment. She likes logic, predictability, and knowing where her next meal is coming from. So being dumped barefoot in a fantasy world with a game-like HUD and zero explanation wasn't exactly her ideal Tuesday.
Where Mimi charges headfirst into danger, Anna hangs back and calculates. Where Mimi sees a fight, Anna sees opportunity cost. They shouldn't work as a team, but they do. Mostly because Mimi doesn't give her a choice.
Bard
Ivan's son and the first person in Hearthmere who makes Anna feel welcome. A natural performer with a drum kit he carries everywhere and the confidence to offer Mimi public speaking lessons.
Bartender
Runs the tavern and runs it well. Sharp-eyed, practical, and steady under pressure. Currently failing to recreate Fancy Feast for a very demanding cat.
Master Blacksmith
Built like a siege weapon with the personality of a slammed door. Tommy's dad. Doesn't trust outsiders easily, but there's a reason he guards this town so fiercely.
Height: 6 feet · Hunts in swarms
Exactly what it sounds like: a grotesque fusion of barnyard chicken and pack-hunting dinosaur. Powerful talons, shrill screeches, and coordinated attacks. Also happens to be Mimi's favorite meal.
Length: Up to 24 feet · Mind-control whisper-song
A massive pale serpent whose whisper-song seeps into your mind, drawing victims in before hitting them with crushing force. Mimi killed one. While Anna was pinned under it. That's the kind of book this is.
The full cast, the full chaos. It's all in the book.
Two people. One pen name. One very real cat.
That depends on who you ask.
DL Pawson is two people. A husband-and-wife writing team who'd rather let the books speak for themselves. One of them builds the worlds, the systems, and the lore. The other brings the voice, the humor, and the moments that make you feel things you weren't ready for. They argue about plot points constantly, agree on the stuff that matters (Mimi is always right), and somehow keep turning out pages.
As for the name: the "D" and the "L" are borrowed from their real initials. "Pawson" came from the fact that the whole series started because of a cat. Paws. Pawson. They're not sorry about it.
Shattered Realms started as a late-night "what if" conversation and turned into a full series. Book One is available now, and Book Two is in the works.
That's all you get for now. The rest is in the books.
It started with a simple question: what would happen if your house cat got transported to a fantasy world and immediately outranked you? What if the cat got the armor, the class, and the sword, and you got... nothing?
One half of DL Pawson is a gamer. That's where the LitRPG mechanics, the stat sheets, and the world-building came from. The other half believes the best stories are about the people (and cats) you'd do anything for. That's where the heart came from.
The humor came from both of them, because if you can't laugh at a cat in plate mail, what can you laugh at?
Book updates, behind-the-scenes content, and letters from a very opinionated cat.
