Ivan is built like a siege weapon and has the personality of a slammed door. Stocky, powerful, with peppered black hair and the kind of tired eyes that don't come from lack of sleep. They come from paying attention for a long time. He doesn't trust outsiders easily. He barely trusts insiders. He trusts his hands, his forge, and his son, and that list took a long time to earn.

He forged Mimi's first real piece of gear. He didn't want to. He did it anyway, which tells you something about him that he would never tell you directly.

There's a reason he guards Hearthmere the way he does. The town has lost people before. He was there for it. He does not talk about it. He also does not let anything get close to the town again if he can help it, which is most of the time, because he's very good at what he does.
